Grand Défi "Digital medical devices for ageing well" challenge

Why a Grand Challenge on digital for ageing well?
The ageing population is a major health, social and economic challenge. By 2050, France will have nearly 12 million people aged 75 and over. Loss of autonomy could affect nearly5 million people, compared with 2.5 million in 2015. This observation calls for a rethink of support and prevention policies.
Digital technology offers innovative solutions for:
- supporting the prevention of falls and loss of autonomy,
- improving quality of life at home,
- strengthening social ties and care coordination,
- supporting caregivers and professionals working with the elderly,
- modernizing medico-social establishments.
The Grand Défi "Dispositifs Médicaux Numériques au service du bien vieillir" aims to accelerate the development, testing, evaluation and dissemination of these useful, reliable and accessible innovations.
How the Grand Défi supports digital innovators for aging well.
The Grand Défi was co-constructed with players in the medico-social sector, gerontopôles, public institutions and end users. It is broken down into four strategic areas, to support innovation, structure experimentation, organize evaluation and train professionals:
Priority 1: Support research and innovation, by funding the co-development of solutions with local players and structuring a national map of systems and experiments.
