The Tiers-lieu Projects

Project: Unhindered Communication

Supplier: WYES

Solution: Wyes First is a pair of smart glasses that serves as a control device for a digital communication system, designed to enhance the communication independence of people unable to speak (e.g., those with ALS, muscular dystrophy, or on invasive ventilators).

Need: The process of multilateral communication in healthcare is subject to significant medical, technical, or emotional constraints, which can hinder the efficient transmission of information and increase the patient’s vulnerability, to the point of impacting care delivery. The goal is to offer a tailored, user-friendly solution that enables individuals with communication difficulties (due to disability or intensive care) to interact with those around them (healthcare providers, family members, and peers).

Contribution of the Tiers-Lieu: The TLE ACCES CVL offers a diverse and complementary range of fields and possesses a strong capacity to mobilize healthcare professionals, patients, and users to initiate regional and then national expansion. ACCES CVL will provide access to the CHRU’s technical platforms and the Usetech’Lab simulation room to foster overall interdisciplinary synergy around patient care.

Project: BBalance

Supplier: MATEO

Solution: The digital medical device is a smart mat that collects the patient’s balance data and converts it into a score. Its purpose is to enable healthcare staff to easily, regularly, and consistently monitor patients’ balance and weight.

Need: The leading cause of loss of independence among older adults is falls. To prevent falls and improve care for older adults with declining independence, the French National Authority for Health recommends frequently measuring and monitoring weight and balance markers. The need therefore centers on a balance marker that is reliable, fast, accessible to all caregivers, and easily reproducible.

Contribution of the Tiers-Lieu: The TLE ACCES-CVL provides access to multidisciplinary expertise—including geriatricians, physical therapists, geriatric healthcare professionals, sociologists, and others—to carry out a project across various settings with complementary assessments. The TLE’s service offering will also enable continued support for the solution provider in accessing the market.
