Regulation of initial training
Amending the texts regulating the initial training of professionals in the health sector
What is the purpose of this action?
Currently, course curricula for undergraduate medical and paramedical training do not include eHealth.
The ambition is to create a cross-functional standard listing expected skills in eHealth.
Who is it for ?
- Universities
- Health training institutes
- Ultimately the students
Key information
- 1st half of 2022: Adopting a shared cross-functional standard
- 2nd half of 2022: Publication of two decrees and a cross-functional decree inserting eHealth into the training curricula of the majority of health professionals
Issue
eHealth training for students is not tailored to the needs of healthcare and is insufficient.
Description
The initial training of medical professions, pharmacists and medical auxiliaries is organized in silos. The programs are updated with very different frequencies from one profession to another and as a result, depending on how long they have been in existence, the content of digital training courses varies greatly and is often insufficient or obsolete.
In order to propose a common framework for eHealth tailored to the needs of the professions and to standardize the content of training courses, a core cross-functional standard was co-constructed by all the representatives of the training courses (representatives of the training establishments and the students).
This standard is intended to be the basis for initial and continuing education.
The teaching of the core skills standard will be made compulsory in the majority of health professionals' training courses from the start of the 2023 and 2024 academic years. Through a cross-functional order and two decrees, the eHealth training will be the same for all, with a minimum of 26 hours and two ECTS credits.
To accompany the creation of these new modules, the “Skills and Professions of the Future” call for expressions of interest (the “CMA AMI”) allows for the financing of this reform via its Action 1, and a PIX Pro Santé is being created.
