The President of the Republic inaugurated the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union (PFUE) in December 2021 with an invitation to develop European ambition based on shared values.

French investment in European digital healthcare initiatives. For more than 20 years, the European Union has been investing in a number of structuring digital health projects and initiatives to serve European citizens. The aim is to streamline the patient's healthcare pathway within the European Union, and to encourage collaboration between organizations delivering healthcare and those in charge of medical research.

With this in mind, the French Presidency wanted to devote these six months to preparing for its adoption and implementation, by making very concrete progress on:

• The definition of an ethical and civic trust framework for European digital health, broken down into concrete tools. Without this, there will be no trust and no use.
• The adoption of the first European technical standards and the establishment of governance in this field, along the lines of the exceptional work on the European Union's digital Covid certificate.
• A European harmonization of evaluation grids for clinical studies of digital medical devices
