Tiers lieu Le Quatre Vingt

A unique consortium of 135 healthcare and autonomy players to make the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region a major territory for healthcare innovation.

Quatre-Vingt

The Third-Place service offering

Adjacent to the Centre d'Innovation et d'Usages en Santé (CIUS), Le Quatre-Vingt offers expertise adapted to each stage of the innovation process, from ideation to market launch and social appropriation of solutions.

By synergizing ICSU's in-house skills and those of its partners within the tiers-lieu (academies, expert centers), Le Quatre-Vingt offers digital companies a range of services coordinated in a one-stop shop, including:

  • the opening of calls for expressions of interest (AMI) in direct touch with needs in the field expressed during "Ideas Lab" workshops;
  • evaluation of projects by users and experts in the themes and fields addressed;
  • the identification and mobilization of voluntary experimental sites to host in situ tests;
  • accompaniment by a multidisciplinary team (design, sociology, public health, project engineering...) throughout the iterations of the project;
  • medicoeconomic evaluation of the solutions deployed;
  • the valorization of results and their dissemination;
  • market support (regulatory, go-to-market, business models, strategy...).

Ongoing experimental projects

Project 1: AI-enhanced emergency calls

Supplier: Highwind

Solution: emergency call solution pre-diagnosed by AI and providing in addition to the call: photos, GPS position, and pre-filled information. The core of the project consists of an AI capable of analyzing the information transmitted and pre-analyzing situations.

Need: To help EMS dispatchers diagnose patients and their situations, as well as deal with major crises that generate a mass of emergency calls. Enable the public to communicate effectively with the SAMU and improve the odds in the face of emergencies.

The contribution of the Third-Location: The Third-Location made it possible to qualify and validate the field of experimentation: the Bouches-du-Rhône, with SAMU 13. This organization gives the company access to a testing ground covering more than a million inhabitants, an interconnection between SAMU 13 and the marine fire department, and an influence over the Southern Region and France. The "tiers-lieu" will ensure the medico-economic evaluation of the project. Finally, it will support the company in managing this particularly complex project.

Project 2: EchographAI

Supplier: Thales Services Numériques

Solution:An ultrasound scanner embedding features to assist in performing the procedure and aid diagnosis through Artificial Intelligence. The solution is based on a patent from the French national space research center (CNES) in the space health sector.

Need:The main obstacle to the wider use of ultrasound lies in the strong link between the level of expertise of the person performing the examination and the quality of the images. A high-quality ultrasound examination can only be carried out by a healthcare professional with specific training and regular practice, which limits its use. Yet facilitating its access in a set of defined cases, presents a potential for improving access to care to be qualified.

The Third-Party's contribution:The variety of partners and communities to which the Third-Party gives access enables us to adopt a global, cross-sector vision, with contributions from all profiles/trades, to connect the solution to needs in the field in order to co-construct and validate a set of precise use cases. The Tiers-Lieu is a lever for streamlining and coordinating the validation work, with the aim of bringing the CNES R&D device to the civilian healthcare market, for the benefit of as many patients as possible.
