SANTINEL "Santé Numérique - Le Tiers-Lieu d'expérimentation des Images Médicales" (Digital Health - The Tiers-Lieu for experimenting with medical images)

Lead partner : Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP)
Main consortium members: Medicen Paris Région, Université Paris Cité
Presentation of the TLE: SANTINEL aims to accelerate the development, evaluation and market access of innovative solutions dedicated to medical images: in radiology and digital pathology. It covers the 38 AP-HP hospitals and all medical indications.

The Tiers lieu service offering

SANTINEL constitutes a service offering tailored to medical image solutions (radiology, digital pathology) based on a consortium which provides easy access to a large community of transdisciplinary expertise(medical, IT, legal, ethical, regulatory, medico-economic, business, ...) and tothe digital hospital environment (infrastructures, healthcare data including medical images).

Thanks to this, SANTINEL's missions are to:

  • Support the emergence of innovative projects and accompany them in their development;
  • Evaluate innovative solutions in their contexts of use to encourage their dissemination;
  • Value structured and annotated datasets ;
  • Emerge and animate a community of innovators;
  • Promote the challenges of digital health, particularly on the specificities of image in health;

To achieve this, SANTINEL offers support in the form of partnerships or services at the various stages of the innovation cycle:

  • Screening: mobilization of AP-HP experts to evaluate projects, their clinical and organizational interest, their market potential and help make technological choices compatible with the reality of hospitals' digital systems;
  • Co-development : actively contributing to the development of solutions (user interfaces, technologies, studies) by mobilizing AP-HP's expertise and data;
  • Testing: evaluating the use of solutions in real-life conditions, to better grasp the challenges of transformation and change management;

These services or partnerships can therefore take the form of development support (technical assistance, feasibility analysis, expert exchange facilitation, training, service visits...) or an experimentation project (interoperability study, performance validation, use case, user experience feedback and acceptability, organizational impact study, medico-economic study...).

Tiers lieu d'expérimentation projects

Project 1: Raidium MASH

Supplier : Raidium (https://www.raidium.eu/)
Solution : Raidium's solution consists of an AI-native PACS viewer that is multimodal and interactive, integrating whole-body imaging biomarkers and segmentation tools. In MASH, the solution aims to facilitate its diagnosis, management and follow-up by radiologists.
Need : MASH is a liver disease on the increase, which can lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer. Its diagnosis and follow-up remain imperfect due to an invasive diagnostic method reserved for a limited number of patients. In the absence of accessible, robust biomarkers, a high proportion of patients remain undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Current radiology solutions do not enable optimal, personalized analysis of patient data, thus limiting the effectiveness of clinical research and treatments.
Tiers-Lieu contribution: This project involves validating MASH biomarkers and evaluating the solution's user experience. SANTINEL therefore enables us to build up a qualified and suitable validation database, and to test the solution with radiologists.

Project 2: Avatar Experience

Supplier : Avatar Medical (https://avatarmedical.ai/)
Solution : Avatar Medical Vision simply provides patient-specific 3D avatars that are built from their CT or MRI images, in real time, where and when practitioners need them, on screen or in virtual reality.
Need : Visual aids for communication with the patient and in medical teams are limited (2D, hand-drawn schematics) and complicate collaboration. 3D models can be powerful aids, boosting productivity and satisfaction among professionals, and improving patient understanding and experience.
Tiers-Lieu contribution : This project aims to identify the most value-creating use cases for this technology in real-life deployment. SANTINEL will enable the product to be tested with patients and professionals in a variety of contexts. SANTINEL allows us to move from theory to practice, clarifying the uses and implementation methods of the technology, and thus adapting them to real expectations in the field.
