Issue

The PEPR action of the PIA4 (Future Investments Program 4) aims to build or strengthen French leadership in scientific fields considered as priorities at the national or European level and linked or likely to be linked to a large-scale transformation, whether technological, economic, societal, health, environmental, etc.
The objective of the action is to launch scientific challenges and structure the research communities in order to achieve scientific advances and bring out breakthrough technologies within five to ten years.

Description

eHealth: interdisciplinary research and innovative challenges for better lifelong health

The application of digital sciences to complex biological and medical data is revolutionizing health data processing, promising multiple benefits for patients. This is why the mobilization of a range of research disciplines is essential to take advantage of the health data already available and those that new medical devices are able to collect with great degrees of precision, sometimes continuously for portable and connected systems.

The contribution of specialists in artificial intelligence, applied mathematics or computer security, to name but a few fields, in close collaboration with life science researchers and clinicians, sociologists and health economists, is essential to continue improving the health of all.

The "eHealth" acceleration strategy includes a scientific component that brings together several French institutions whose objective is to create the building blocks needed for advances in the prevention and care system, new instruments, new forms of data, models, algorithms, and even appropriate organizational or legal recommendations.

These exciting prospects are inextricably linked to ethical concerns and the protection of health data, which are taken into account right from the design of these innovative technologies.
