Innovation aids

Strengthening innovation aids targeted at new digital uses

What is the objective of the action ?

This action aims to finance, via recurrent Calls for Projects (CFP), R&D work in eHealth, in areas deemed to be priorities. The themes will focus on technological innovations and fields of application, but not on specific illnesses. The action would take the form of calls for projects, operated by BPI France.
The winners of these CFPs, if they achieve milestones and submit a brief additional application in due course of time, may be offered financial support for quality process development, CE certification, or the construction of a clinical study protocol.

Who is it for ?

Healthcare companies, academics and healthcare providers.

Key information

In order to promote access to innovations for citizens, France must invest in new markets and drive innovation directed at health professionals and citizen-patients. This action aims to support the maturation of innovative solutions, enabling both the French ecosystem to grow and citizens to benefit from care whose quality is improved by digital technology.

Challenge

  • In order to promote access to innovations for citizens, France must invest in new markets and tow innovation to health professionals and citizen-patients.
  • This action aims to support the maturation of innovative solutions, allowing both the French ecosystem to grow and citizens to benefit from care whose quality is improved by digital technology.

Description

For therapeutic purposes (providing a clinically based therapeutic intervention to prevent or treat a disease or medical condition), the following technology areas for medical devices will be prioritised in particular:

  • Digital medical devices/software for therapy (including digital therapies) ;
  • Connected medical devices for therapy;
  • Active implantable medical devices with a digital component providing specific clinical value;
  • Medical devices for therapy including artificial intelligence;
  • ...

Digital or connected medical devices for diagnostic or monitoring purposes, without interventional component, are not covered by this i-Nov theme.

Mental health is one of the areas in which the imbalance between the need and the digital offer is the greatest. The risk of a digital divide will also be a focus of attention. The following technological solutions are expected in this area :

  • Applications and connected objects to combat depression, anxiety, insomnia, addictions, eating disorders, etc.
  • Therapeutic Serious Games;
  • Use of artificial intelligence to predict risk behaviour (suicide, violence, etc.);
  • Digital simulation technologies for the training of mental health professionals.

The proposed solutions must be in line with the actions of the Mental Health and Psychiatry Roadmap which were reinforced during the Mental Health and Psychiatry Conferences.
