At today's event at Parisantécampus, Sylvie Retailleau, Minister for Higher Education and Research, François Braun, Minister for Health and Prevention, and Roland Lescure, Minister for Industry, together with Bruno Bonnell, General Secretary for Investment in charge of France 2030, announced the first six winners selected in the first wave.

A call for projects designed to bring together hospital structures and establishments throughout France

Launched in July 2022, the France 2030 call for projects (AAP) "Accompanying and supporting the constitution of hospital healthcare data warehouses" is steered by the DGOS and operated by Bpifrance with the support of the Health Data Hub.

Its objective is twofold:

  • construct and consolidate healthcare data warehouses in healthcare establishments;
  • in the long term, to set up a national network promoting the production and fluid sharing of healthcare data, as well as its exploitation between public and private players in research and innovation.

The initial France 2030 envelope of €50 million earmarked for this scheme was topped up in early March 2023 by a further €25 million, bringing the total AAP envelope to €75 million to fund the winning projects in both waves.

Focus on the first 6 winners

Selected by a jury of healthcare data experts, the six winners were chosen for the relevance and potential of their projects for a total amount of aid of nearly 40 Million Euros over the next 40 months:

  • The AP-HP ACCES project (Ile de France) (consolidation of its health data warehouse for research and innovation projects)
  • The eDOL project at Montpellier University Hospital (development of its health data warehouse using the interoperable OMOP format)
  • The EDEN4HEALTH project led by GCS Grand Est (development of a health data accessibility and intelligence platform including 7 establishments in the region)
  • The ODH 2.0 Project led by GCS HUGO and ODH (integration of new types of data flows)
  • The EDS NOVA project carried by the GCS NOVA (deployment and upgrading of data warehouses at project partner establishments)
  • The ONCODS project of UNICANCER (design of a warehouse dedicated to data sharing based on the networking of 12 local warehouses of cancer centers and the constitution of a central infrastructure).

These six winners ensure an already substantial territorial network, which will be completed by those in the second wave of the call for projects.

Minister of Higher Education and Research

A word from Sylvie Retailleau

With the development of artificial intelligence tools, healthcare data is a major challenge for improving patient follow-up. They must facilitate clinical research and associated innovations by synthesizing and modeling complex data. The availability of high-quality, accessible data means that we need to start thinking now about the resources and tools required to collect, process, store and make this data available. The first six hospital health data warehouses awarded in the call for projects are contributing to this dynamic.

Minister of Health and Prevention

A word from François Braun

The enthusiasm generated by this first wave of prizewinners reinforces my belief that we are right to invest, and strengthens my ambition, as we launch the second call for projects. The Government and the Ministry of Health and Prevention will continue tosupport establishments that wish to take this step forward!

Minister attached to the Minister of the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, with responsibility for Industry

A word from Roland Lescure

We have been witnessing an exponential increase in the amount of healthcare data available for some years now. We have collectively decided to turn this into a lever for research and development by financing the development and structuring of hospital data warehouses throughout France. The projects led by the six prizewinners announced today will contribute to the emergence of a French network of healthcare data warehouses, a real catalyst for innovation, for the benefit of all patients and the healthcare system.

Minister for Digital Transition and Telecommunications

A word from Jean-Noël Barrot

I'm proud of these first six winners, selected as part of the first wave of this call for projects, which will help build and consolidate hospital health data warehouses of strategic importance to our economic and digital sovereignty. The objective we all share is to unleash the tremendous potential of healthcare data for research and innovation, and ultimately for the benefit of public health and confidence in the digital economy
