A week after the announcement of the investment plan France 2030, and to the opportunity first anniversary of G_NIUS, Olivier Véran, Minister of Solidarity and Health, Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, ministre déléguée chargée de l'Industrie, Cédric O, ssecrétaire d'Etat chargé of Transition digital and Communications electronics, and Guillaume Boudy, Secretary General for Investment, have officially launched acceleration strategy " Digital Health " and unveiled its main lines of action.

The "Digital Health" acceleration strategy is launched!

With the more than €7.5 billion Innovation santé 2030 plan announced on June 29 by the French President at the Conseil stratégique des industries de santé (CSIS), the ambition is to make France one of the leading innovative healthcare nations in Europe. The "Santé numérique" (SASN) acceleration strategy is endowed with €650M, notably from the Programme d'investissements d'avenir (PIA), for the development, validation and experimentation of digital tools for this 5P medicine.

Almost four months after this announcement, the strategy is officially launched, at the 1-year G_NIUS event, on October 18, 2021, at Station F. On this occasion, the details of the strategy were fully unveiled.

Overview of the "Digital Health" acceleration strategy

The "Digital Health" acceleration strategy is structured into 5 axes needed to make France a leader in digital health, which follow the lifeline of a digital health project, from acquiring skills through training to deploying concrete solutions on a large scale.

The actions that make up each of the strategy's axes are designed to implement the levers needed to support research, foster innovation and structure a fabric of entrepreneurs.

The strategy aims to:

  • To devote €81M, an unprecedented effort, in training all players in the digital health sector;
  • To invest €60M in PEPRs (Priority Research Programs and Equipment);
  • Dedicate €20M per year to the call for projects to evaluate the medical and/or economic benefit of digital or artificial intelligence-based medical devices;
  • To create 30 third-party experimentation sites by 2025 for a budget of €63M;
  • To invest €95M to support the excellence of the imaging sector in France;
  • To boost innovation aid by €50M targeted at new digital uses in healthcare.
