The PGI brings together stakeholders and builds expertise to foster innovation. It takes a comprehensive approach to issues related to aging and applies it to the health, medical-social, social, and economic sectors.

As the Gerontopole for the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region—and, as such, a member of the Union of Gerontopoles of France—its pillars are:

• Research
• Training
• The silver economy
• Communication

Its missions are as follows:

• Strengthen public-private partnerships in innovation and research and development among entrepreneurs, users, researchers, healthcare and independent living professionals, institutional stakeholders, and public authorities
• To accelerate the development and deployment of innovations co-created with target users and scientifically evaluated
• To expand and share knowledge about the challenges of demographic transition and about effective, promising, or missing solutions to the needs of older adults, caregivers, and professionals.

The Gerontology Center has established a support program, through the regional “Opportunités Seniors” committee, to provide a continuum of support for innovations in the field of healthy aging.

The value of this support lies in:

• Providing an easy gateway to the regional ecosystem and existing resources
• Visibility and networking opportunities at regional or national trade shows and events
• Providing solutions through user testing or customized studies
